You might be asking yourself, “Why lenses?” or “You said this blog was about marketing and PR yet you have pictures of cameras everywhere, what’s the deal?” or “What is the purpose of my life?” Let me explain (except about that last one, that’s a little over my paygrade).
I believe you can be passionate about anything. I happen to be passionate about furthering knowledge about marketing and PR practices using a mixture of social media AND time-tested principles (a new take on integrated marketing, if you will). I also happen to be very passionate about the movie and film industry.
Before George Lucas created Star Wars, no one believed film effects could look so realistic. Fast-forward to today and we are still being amazed by CGI breakthroughs in films like Avatar. Gone With The Wind, The Godfather, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and many others have captivated our minds throughout history because they moved beyond what we thought we could do; they looked at life through a new lens.
You may call it “perspective” or “Burke’s terministic screens” or “personal filter,” but it all comes down to the same thing; looking at something in a new way with “new eyes”.
And thus: Through a New Lens was born. Through the merger of my two passions, I intend to view films Through a New Lens and bring to you the marketing and PR ideas hidden within the movies that we have all seen and love and hopefully you will join me. Together, we are the cast and it is up to us to decide how the plot develops.
