What’s a Joey?

I am a digital marketer, blogger, PR practitioner, and all around swell guy.  Currently, I work as a salesman for a mid-size human resource publishing firm in Nashville, TN, but am very passionate about social media marketing and always learning effective ways to promote personal and corporate brands.

I am a seven-year student of marketing and public relations and was introduced to social media marketing while attending graduate school at Boston University.  I have been writing, learning, and socializing ever since.

Through a New Lens, my blog, is a combination of two main passions: social media marketing and movies.  TaNL attempts to bring out helpful themes and ideas from movies that we all watch in hopes to foster not only a desire to improve social media strategies, but also to encourage everyone to see the world around us in a new way.

Speaker/Presenter

While living in Nashville and attending David Lipscomb University, I worked as a stand-up comedian and inherited a love of public speaking.  Even though my comedy days are basically over (I still perform on occasion when asked), I still love to educate and entertain and now focuses on how organizations can effectively use social media strategy to increase business and manage their reputations online.  I am laid-back as I approach education and mix humor, movie clips, real-world analogies and stories with practical advice and tips to enable your team to confidently step into the mecca that is social media with a road map that works.

“What Have I Done,” you ask?

Outside of performing with Mike Birbiglia, Greg Giraldo, Gallagher, and others, I been published by theNational Communications Association for a theory of communication that I created entitled “Constructing Societal Wit”that was presented at the 2008 NCA National Conference.  I have also collaborated on several social media projects and hope to do more work in 2010 and beyond.
